21st CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
Jefferson Parish Schools received a 21st Century Community Learning Center After-School Program Grant in September 2022 for two schools in our district, being one Granville T. Woods. This program provides academic, artistic and cultural enrichment opportunities for children.
The 21st Century Community Learning Center Program includes academic tutoring, science-based activities, recreational activities, cultural activities, and the arts. The program starts in September from Monday through Thursday from 3:00-5:00 p.m., providing free snacks to all participants and bus transportation to those students who are already bus riders. The program also ran successfully for three weeks during the summer.
The 21st Century Community Learning Center Program also includes activities for families and the community and provides an opportunity to be involved in the educational process of their children.
OUR VISION
The 21st Century Community Learning Center Program will provide a safe, nurturing, and joy-filled environment. This program will help students develop positive relationships with peers and adults and will create a healthy blend of educational, recreational, and cultural activities.

- To make out-of-school time productive and safe.
- To help students develop their talents and abilities.
- To create a healthy blend of education and recreation.
- To provide drug and violence prevention education.
- To provide cultural and creative enrichment time.
THE 21ST CENTURY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM IS FREE OF CHARGE FOR PARTICIPANTS.
21st Century also collaborates with 4-H, Girl Scouts, and other community organizations.
