Dress Down Policy
Dress-Down Day Policy for Pre-Kindergarten & Kindergarten Students
Jefferson Parish Schools policy states that ALL Pre-K and Kindergarten students MUST wear their PURPLE SHIRT every day.
Pre-K and Kindergarten students MUST receive a written notification (flyer/dress down ticket) when allowed to participate in a dress-down day. Pre-K and Kindergarten students MAY NOT be able to participate in ALL the school dress-down days.. When Pre-K and Kindergarten students are allowed to participate in a dress-down day, MAY wear their regular purple school shirt with dress down bottoms OR have their purple school shirt inside their backpacks, so they can wear it at dismissal.
Dress-Down Day Rules for ALL Grades Students:
Students MUST receive a written notification (flyer/dress down ticket) when allowed to participate in a dress-down day.
- Students MUST follow any special directions given for each dress-down day. (Ex. Red shirt day, blue jeans day, favorite sports team day, etc.).
- All shirts MUST have sleeves. ALL dresses, skirts, skorts MUST be NO SHORTER than TWO INCHES above the knee all the way around when standing. Shorts MUST be knee length. (JPS Policy).
- Students MUST wear tennis shoes ONLY. (JPS Policy)
- Students who violate the rules for dress-down days or other specifications given, will not be allowed to participate in a future dress down day.
Students SHOULD NOT wear:
■ NO T-shirts or other garments with violent, offensive, or illegal images.
■ Shirts MUST have sleeves and NOT BE low-cut; NO strapless, NO tank tops, NO muscle shirts, NO midriffs, NO crop tops, NO one-shoulder, NO off the shoulder, NO exposed mid-sections, NO exposed undergarments.
■ NO Jeans with holes or rips, NO regular or workout leggings or shorts, NO stretch-knit or spandex pants or shorts.
Students failing to meet acceptable dress guidelines will be required to call home for a school uniform.
